South African threaten Nwabali

Following his outstanding performance against South Africa, Super Eagles goalie Stanley Nwabali, who plays for Chippa United in that country, has reportedly received threats from the country’s supporters.

After the AFCON, the South African supporters allegedly advised him not to go back to his club.

Speaking on Channels Television on Thursday, former Super Eagles player Idah Peterside disclosed the threats and said that certain supporters had advised Nwabali not to return to Chippa United in South Africa following the AFCON competition.

Though the threat has not been made public, it is thought that several South Africans are angry with Nwabali for keeping their side from making it to the championship.

“The biggest issue we’ve had,” stated Peterside, “is that we’ve received some messages from people threatening the goalkeeper.” I’ve heard that some are warning him not to return to South Africa because you didn’t want us to win. There have been no reports of violence. but only warnings. They have been threatening both him and other individuals.

Against Bafana Bafana in the semifinals, Nwabali showed off his skills by stopping two penalties in the shootout and making critical saves during regulation.
