Aiyedatiwa: I have advantage to win, Ondo gov. says

The Ondo state Governor and the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in the ongoing election, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has expressed his confidence about securing a victory in the current governorship election, stating “I have advantage to win.”

According to the Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), Aiyedatiwa who made the statement after casting his vote at Unit 5 Ward 4 in Obenla community, stated his track record over the past 10 months in the state as an edge for him to win the ongoing election.

The governor expressed confidence that the people would repeat the love they showed during his campaign with their votes, having listened attentively to his vision for the state.

Aiyedatiwa stated “I’m currently at Obela community’s Unit 05, and I’m thrilled to report that the atmosphere is serene and peaceful.”

“The voter turnout is impressive, and I’m optimistic that this trend will continue across other locations. I have faith that the citizens will conduct themselves responsibly and maintain the peace.”

“The election process in Ondo has been remarkably peaceful, thanks to our law-abiding citizens. I’m confident that that there will continually be peace throughout the process.”

“I’m encouraging everyone to exercise their right to vote. It’s crucial that people make their voices heard.”

“Over the past 10 months, we’ve worked tirelessly to make a positive impact, and I’m confident that the voters are aware of our achievements and will make a good decision,” Aiyedatiwa emphasized.

“I’m confident that my efforts over the last 10 months will give me an edge in the election.”

“As the only candidate to have traveled to all 18 local government areas, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with the people, hearing their concerns, and responding to their needs.”

Know about Aiyedatiwa

Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is a Nigerian politician and businessman who has been making waves in Ondo State.

He was born on January 12, 1965, in Ilaje, Western Region (now Ondo State), he’s had a remarkable career spanning business, politics, and governance.

Early Life and Education of Aiyedatiwa

Aiyedatiwa attended Saint Peter’s UNA (now FAC) Primary School, Obe Nla/Obe Adun, and later Ikosi High School, Ketu, Lagos.

He obtained his Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in Economics and Government from Lagos State College of Education and went on to attend the University of Ibadan for his Advanced Diploma in Business Administration.

Business Career of Aiyedatiwa

Before venturing into politics, Aiyedatiwa established the Blue Wall Group of Companies in 1996, which includes Blue Wall Nigeria Ltd, Blue Wall BDC Nigeria Ltd, and Blue Wall Safety Travels and Tours.

Political Career

Aiyedatiwa joined active politics in 2011 as a member of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), which later merged with other parties to form the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He contested for the federal House of Representatives for Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in 2015.

Governorship

In 2020, Aiyedatiwa was selected as the running mate of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and was sworn in as deputy governor on February 25, 2021.

After Akeredolu’s passing on December 27, 2023, Aiyedatiwa took office as the governor of Ondo State.

Personal Life

Aiyedatiwa is married to Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa and has three children.

Awards

Orimisan has received several awards and recognitions for his contributions to business, politics, and community development.

He received in 2017 an award of “Excellence in Entrepreneurship” by the Ondo State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture.

In 2019, he received “Business Leader of the Year” award by the Nigeria Entrepreneurs Award.

In addition, he received the “Community Service Award” by the Ilaje/Ese-Odo Local Government Area and “Distinguished Service Award” by the Ondo State Traditional Council in 2020.

Also, Aiyedatiwa received the  “Outstanding Politician of the Year” award by the Ondo State APC Stakeholders Forum and the “Leadership Excellence Award” by the Nigerian Politicians Forum in 2022 and 2023.
