APC National Chairman Ganduje Identifies Politicians as the Primary Hurdle in Election Conduct

Published

In a candid revelation, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has emphasized that politicians stand as the most significant impediment to the smooth conduct of the nation’s elections. Ganduje addressed the critical need for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to undertake exercises that evaluate the viability of political parties, ensuring effective planning, record-keeping, and compliance with the law.

During the statement, Ganduje expressed his insights into the challenges faced by INEC, highlighting the prevalent issue of insecurity during elections.

Ganduje stressed the imperative of comprehending the rules and regulations governing elections, emphasizing the necessity for politicians to embrace civilized behavior in their conduct. To facilitate this understanding, he announced that institutions affiliated with the APC would be conducting digital education programs for politicians. The objective is to ensure that politicians are well-informed about the requirements and regulations for fostering a more responsible political environment.

In a directive issued by the APC, party offices at various levels, from wards to local government, zones, and states, have been instructed to make officers available for these educational initiatives. This directive underscores the party’s commitment to equipping its members with the knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of election regulations.

As Nigeria continues to grapple with challenges in the electoral process, Ganduje’s acknowledgment of politicians’ role as a substantial hindrance opens the door for proactive measures. The emphasis on digital education and the directive to ensure the availability of party officers aligns with efforts to create a more informed and responsible political class. These initiatives aim to contribute to the enhancement of the electoral process and the overall political landscape in the country.
