The Abia State Governorship Election Tribunal has upheld the election of Governor Alex Otti in the March 18, 2023, governorship election held in the state.

The Tribunal, while upholding Governor Otti’s election, thrashed the petition brought the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr. Okey Ahaiwe, challenging Otti’s election.

In her ruling, the tribunal presided over by Hon. Justice H. T. D Gwadah said that the petitioners, the PDP and others, “failed in their three grounds and their petitions dismissed for lack of merit.”

The three grounds include non-qualification of Otti to contest the governorship, non-membership of the LP and provision of authentic National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate and inability to prove corrupt practices.

The tribunal, thereafter, moved into the All Progressives Congress (APC) petition against Governor Otti.
