Popular socialite and businessman Cubana Chief Priest has publicly expressed support for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the state’s governorship election, despite being identified with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a video shared on his Instagram page, Cubana Chief Priest urged voters in Osun State to support Adeleke, describing the incumbent governor as someone who should not be underestimated.
“Adeleke no be push over oh, Osun vote accordingly for Adeleke,” he said.
He also addressed claims that President Bola Tinubu and the APC were determined to take control of Osun State, dismissing the suggestion as untrue.
“Make una no mind them oh. Them say Baba (Tinubu) want Osun, that’s a big lie. Baba no dey drag Osun with anybody,” he said.
His comments have attracted attention because of his reported APC affiliation, with social media users debating his decision to publicly back Adeleke despite his association with the ruling party.
Cubana Chief Priest also showed support for Davido, who has recently become increasingly vocal about the Osun election and has publicly backed Adeleke.
Davido’s involvement in the election has already generated considerable discussion, particularly because of his family ties to Osun State and his large following among young Nigerians.
Cubana Chief Priest’s endorsement adds another high-profile voice to the growing list of celebrities and public figures weighing in on the political contest.
His message was delivered in a conversational style, but the substance was clear: he wants voters to support Adeleke and not be swayed by claims that the APC has already secured Osun State.
The development comes amid an increasingly heated political atmosphere in the state, with supporters of Adeleke and the APC intensifying their campaigns ahead of the election.
Cubana Chief Priest’s position has also prompted questions about political loyalty and whether party membership necessarily determines how an individual votes.
While his public support may surprise some because of his reported APC affiliation, political party membership does not necessarily mean every member will publicly endorse every candidate or take the same position on an election.
For now, his endorsement places him alongside Davido in publicly backing Adeleke, adding another celebrity-driven dimension to the battle for Osun State.
With the election approaching, the growing involvement of entertainers, social media personalities and other public figures is likely to keep the contest firmly in the spotlight.
