BENIN CITY / KANO, NIGERIA – The Edo State Governor and the Emir of Kano have called on Muslim faithful across the country to intensify prayers for peace, unity, and national progress during the Eid-al-Adha celebrations amid ongoing social and security challenges in Nigeria.
The leaders made the appeal while urging citizens to use the sacred period of sacrifice and reflection to seek divine intervention for the nation, stressing the importance of unity, tolerance, and collective responsibility in addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
They noted that Nigeria’s diversity should be seen as a strength that must be preserved through mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and continuous prayers for stability and development.
Concerns Over National Peace And Stability
The leaders expressed concern over rising tensions and security challenges in different parts of the country, warning that instability could undermine national growth and social harmony if not addressed collectively.
They emphasized that peace remains a fundamental requirement for development, adding that religious and ethnic differences should not be allowed to divide citizens or weaken national unity.
According to them, sustained prayers and cooperation among Nigerians are essential in overcoming insecurity, economic hardship, and other national difficulties.

The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, urged Muslim faithful to remain committed to prayers for the progress of the nation, stressing that leadership and citizens alike must work together for peace.
He encouraged Nigerians to embrace love, tolerance, and forgiveness, noting that national development can only be achieved in an atmosphere of unity and mutual understanding.
Similarly, the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, called on Muslims to use the Eid-al-Adha period to pray for stability and prosperity, emphasizing the spiritual importance of sacrifice and compassion.
The Emir added that citizens must continue to support efforts aimed at strengthening peace and development across all regions of the country.
