Emmanuel Obasi, the former husband of Nollywood actress Judy Austin, has clarified the reason behind his emotional moment during a recent podcast appearance, while also offering an apology to viewers.

Obasi featured on an episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, where he opened up about the collapse of his marriage. During the conversation, he made allegations involving actor Yul Edochie, claiming that Judy Austin showed interest in him while they were still married.

The interview gained widespread attention after Obasi was seen breaking down in tears and wiping his face with a handkerchief, a moment that quickly went viral and sparked mixed reactions online.

In a follow-up video shared on June 17, Obasi apologised for becoming emotional, explaining that the discussion brought back painful memories.

“I want to apologise for crying on that podcast. It wasn’t planned. I didn’t travel from Onitsha to Lagos to cry. Something triggered me, and I became emotional. Please bear with me,” he said.

Addressing speculation surrounding the incident, Obasi dismissed claims that his tears were related to his ex-wife. He insisted that the narrative being circulated was inaccurate.

According to him, he is currently married and has moved on from that chapter of his life. He explained that his emotional reaction was instead tied to his desire to reconnect with his children.

“I want the world to know that I wasn’t crying over a woman. I was emotional because of my children,” he stated.

He also responded to online criticism focusing on the handkerchief he used during the interview, urging people to pay attention to the core message rather than trivial details.

“Someone is speaking about wanting access to his children, but people are more concerned about a handkerchief. That shouldn’t be the focus,” he added.

Obasi’s clarification has continued to generate conversation online, with many debating the broader issues of fatherhood, emotional expression, and public scrutiny.
