ID Cabasa Slams Government, Nigerians Over Rising Violence

Nigerian singer and music producer ID Cabasa has voiced deep concern over the worsening security situation in Nigeria, warning that violence is becoming dangerously normalised across the country.

In a video shared on his Instagram page on May 25, the music executive lamented the rising cases of killings, bandit attacks, and terrorism, noting that many Nigerians now live in constant fear and uncertainty. According to him, the most troubling aspect is how citizens appear to have gradually accepted the situation as part of everyday life.

“It is so sad now that we have gotten used to evil. Nigerians have gotten used to the killing; we have adjusted to the darkness that has covered this country. The government of the day is not taking action,” he said.

Beyond the violence itself, ID Cabasa criticised the tendency to politicise insecurity, arguing that conversations around the issue are often divided along political, ethnic, and religious lines instead of focusing on accountability and solutions.

“…and it is so sad that when we are even supposed to speak up, people pick political divides. We make these things political, we make it religious, ethnic, tribal… evil is devouring us in Nigeria,” he added.

He also raised concerns about the growing fear among parents regarding the safety of their children, particularly in schools. Referencing recent attacks in states like Oyo State and Plateau State, the producer noted that incidents involving violence against teachers and students have left families traumatised.

According to him, while insecurity continues to escalate, many Nigerians remain distracted by social media trends rather than demanding meaningful action from authorities.

Drawing comparisons with countries like the United States, ID Cabasa questioned the approach to handling security threats in Nigeria, including the rehabilitation of former terrorists. He stressed the need for a justice system that prioritises accountability and deterrence.

The producer concluded by urging Nigerians to set aside tribal, religious, and political differences and unite in demanding urgent and decisive action from the government to address the growing crisis.
