Inspiring Journey to Anambra, quest for knowledge and career

The 21st of August, 2024, will always remain a favorable day for me as it was the day I began this new chapter of my life with a hunger for knowledge and an ambition to progress my career, thanks to Dr. Ben and Dr. Mrs. Lizzy Ben-Chukwu who provided me with financial support.

My career lay in shambles, a tangled thread. My skills felt superficial, filling me with dread. I labored like an elephant, strong and grand. Yet, my efforts yielded results so small, like sand.

Each day was a struggle, a heavyweight. I worked hard, but progress came late. This led me to a journey of seeking light.

I sought knowledge and purpose to set things right. Dr Ben and Dr. Mrs. Lizzy, who had noticed my curiosity about my work and my quest for knowledge, offered me a scholarship

Which I am meant  travel to Diaspora Digital Media Academy (DDM), located in Awka, Anambra state, from Enugu state, to study a course in Digital Marketing and Graphics Design.

Thank God. I accepted the offer, and I was given the contact information and directions on how to go to DDM Villa. Sponsors who were sent by God provided me with the funds that I needed.

I took off from Enugu, at 7 AM traveling with the Onitsha South transport, and arrived at Awka, Anambra State at about 10 AM at a fare fee of 3,500 naira only

I then contacted the academy manager, Mr. Emmanuel, because He knew that I was coming to the academy or rather to be picked up from the park.

He gave me information regarding where to enter a tricycle that would bring me to the exact address which I did and the tricycle rider brought me to the exact venue, then Mr. Emmanuel came out and assisted me in carrying my luggage.

When I arrived at the gate, I felt a wave of fear and unease, as the building resembled a kidnapper’s hideout. The unfinished structure of the academy and the surrounding bushes added to the ominous atmosphere.

However, I pressed on, trusting in the credibility of the person who sent me.
My dear readers, you need to see how the building and the whole arena look right now.

The amazing structure have been completed and furnished to a very high standard.

So far, the learning have been  impactful. I now have my Facebook page, where I have been building my digital relevance. Likewise, my Graphic design creativity has drastically increased.

Then, here comes another opportunity.

Here comes another opportunity

The Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) has teamed up with DDM to launch a comprehensive training program for publicity secretaries and other participants from all over Nigeria.

This two-week intensive program, currently going on in Anambra State, aims to enhance participants’ skills in journalism, capacity building, and digital media.

Representatives from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory have overwhelmingly endorsed the training program.

We are expressing high praise for its inclusive approach and commitment to empowering media professionals.

The training program features an esteemed faculty of experienced journalists, including Tony Eluemunor, Nicholas Uwerunonye, and Tim Elombah, alongside software engineer Joseph Mmadubuike.

They leverage extensive expertise, and the facilitators impart cutting-edge knowledge and best practices in modern journalism and digital media, greatly enriching the participants’ learning experience.

As I share my experience with you, dear readers, I must highlight that this training in Awka, Anambra State, has been an all-expenses-paid opportunity for all the attendees as well as transportation allowances distributed to all the COPDEM participants who came from different states.

We all enjoyed delicious meals while learning in a conducive environment about journalism, leadership, and digital media by the DDM instructors.
