The Embassy of Ireland in Nigeria has announced that applications for the 2026 Ireland Fellows Programme will open on June 29, giving qualified Nigerians the chance to pursue a fully funded Master’s degree in Ireland.
The announcement was made in a post on the embassy’s official X account on Friday. The programme targets early and mid-career professionals from Nigeria and Ghana seeking to undertake a one-year postgraduate degree at leading Irish universities.
“Applications for the Ireland Fellows Programme open on 29 June 2026. Apply for the opportunity to study in Ireland on a fully funded Master’s scholarship,” the embassy said.
According to the embassy, prospective applicants can access full details of the programme, including eligibility requirements and application guidelines, through the official Ireland Fellows Programme portal.
To qualify, applicants must be citizens and residents of either Nigeria or Ghana, hold at least a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower honours, and have no fewer than three years of relevant professional work experience.
For Nigerian applicants, the programme also includes the Roger Casement Fellowship in Human Rights, which supports postgraduate studies in Law, Human Rights and Governance.
The scholarship covers full tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, accommodation support, return flights, visa expenses and health insurance, providing successful candidates with comprehensive financial support throughout their studies.
Applications will open on June 29 and close on July 26, 2026. Interested candidates are expected to submit their applications through the official Ireland Fellows Programme website.
The Ireland Fellows Programme is designed to strengthen leadership, professional skills and international collaboration by enabling emerging professionals from partner countries to gain advanced education and return home equipped to contribute to national development.
