This game is significant as it marks the latest chapter in their long-standing rivalry, known as the ‘Jollof Derby’.
This is the first time the countries are meeting since the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where Nigeria, also known as the Super Eagles, experienced a heartbreaking loss to the host team in a thrilling final last month.
Finidi George, a former player for Ipswich Town, is currently in temporary charge of the Nigerian team as they seek a permanent replacement for former head coach Jose Peseiro.

Despite these setbacks, the Nigerian impressed and hopes to secure the head coach position on a long-term basis.
