JOS, Nigeria — Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has described former Governor Jonah Jang as his role model, praising his leadership, integrity and dedication to the development of Plateau State as the elder statesman marked his 80th birthday.
Governor Mutfwang made the remarks during a celebration held in honour of Jang, where political leaders, traditional rulers, religious figures and other dignitaries gathered to celebrate his contributions to governance and public service.
The governor said Jonah Jang’s style of leadership has remained a source of inspiration throughout his political career. He noted that the former governor demonstrated courage, discipline and commitment to the welfare of the people while serving Plateau State and Nigeria in different capacities.
According to Mutfwang, Jang’s years in office reflected a strong passion for service, peace and development. He added that the former governor’s achievements continue to serve as an example for leaders who genuinely desire to improve the lives of citizens through responsible governance.
Mutfwang also praised Jang for remaining committed to the progress of Plateau State even after leaving office. He described him as a respected statesman whose advice and experience continue to guide younger leaders in addressing governance challenges and promoting unity across the state.
The governor urged upcoming politicians and public office holders to emulate Jang’s values of honesty, accountability and selfless service. He stressed that effective leadership requires sacrifice, dedication and a commitment to putting the interests of the people above personal ambition.
