Abdulkadir Gude, a founding member of the PDP in Kano, has passed away at the age of 63.

He died in the early hours of Friday after a brief illness in Kano, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathers.

His death comes as the PDP plans a major political comeback in the 2027 Kano gubernatorial election.

Gude was a former governorship aspirant and a respected voice in Kano’s political landscape for decades.

He played a key role in shaping the PDP’s structure and strategies during its formative years in Kano.

His influence reached beyond politics, touching community development and social reform throughout his career.

News of his passing was confirmed by Hamisu Yakasai, a close friend and fellow member of the NRO.

Gude served as Secretary General of the Northern Reform Organisation until his death.

Yakasai expressed deep sorrow, describing him as a cherished friend and tireless leader in political reform.

“His unwavering dedication and leadership will never be forgotten,” Yakasai said in a heartfelt tribute on Friday.

He described Gude as a mentor to many and a pillar in both political and reformist communities.

The NRO also released a statement mourning Gude’s death and honouring his legacy.

They called him a refined statesman, exemplary public servant, and dedicated community advocate.

The organisation said his passing leaves a significant void in their ranks and beyond.

Gude was widely admired for his calm demeanour, strategic mind, and inclusive leadership style.

He was known to bring people together across political divides and inspire younger generations.

Although he never became governor, many believed he was more than qualified for the role.

He remained active in the PDP and reform efforts until his final days.

Gude’s death triggered an outpouring of tributes from political figures and civil society groups across Kano.

Many residents took to social media to mourn the loss of a beloved leader and mentor.

He is survived by his wife, children, and an extended family who now grieve his absence.

Burial arrangements are underway, with rites to be held in accordance with Islamic traditions.

As Kano mourns, Gude’s legacy of service, reform, and leadership continues to inspire many.
