Nigerian content creator Shank Comics has shared a hilarious yet emotional story about his early struggles before rising to fame in the comedy space.
According to Shank, his journey into content creation was inspired by friends who constantly hyped his jokes and encouraged him to take things more seriously.
“My guys encouraged me to do skit because of the jokes I cracked around them,” he said.
However, things didn’t go as expected when he decided to test his talent on a bigger stage. Recalling his first attempt at stand-up comedy while still in school, Shank described the experience as painfully embarrassing.
“One day I did standup comedy in school, it was so bad and dry I cried my way back to the hostel out of shame,” he revealed.
The moment was so humbling that it made him question everything including the friends who initially pushed him.
“I suppose cut off those my friends because they laughed at those same jokes,” he added jokingly.
His story has since resonated with many fans, who find it both relatable and inspiring. It highlights the gap that can sometimes exist between casual humor among friends and performing in front of an audience.
Today, Shank is widely known for his viral skits and comedic timing, proving that early failures don’t define the journey they refine it.
His experience serves as a reminder that growth often comes with uncomfortable beginnings, and sometimes, the moments that feel like setbacks are actually the foundation for future success.
