Police in Anambra rescue kidnapped victim after dramatic chase

The Anambra State Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnapped victim in Amawbia, Awka South.

The victim was rescued after a hot chase and strategic positioning of police operatives as gathered by Diaspora Digital Media (DDM).

The police operatives are attached to the Central Police Station in Awka.

The rescue operation followed an urgent report about the abduction at 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22.

The criminals were operating in an unmarked Sienna vehicle when the abduction occurred.

After receiving the report, the police swiftly acted to locate and pursue the kidnappers.

The officers strategically positioned themselves to block the suspects’ route.

This forced the kidnappers to abandon their victim at Umunya, along the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway.

The criminals fled the scene shortly after leaving the victim behind.

The police successfully rescued the victim and ensured their safety.

The victim has since been debriefed, and necessary steps are being taken for their care.

The Anambra State Police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

They are working to identify and arrest the suspects involved in the crime.

The police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the successful rescue in a statement.

Ikenga urged the public to provide any information that could assist in the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, expressed concern over the rise in kidnappings.

CP Echeng reassured the public that efforts to combat kidnapping would continue.

The recent incident highlights the importance of swift police action in preventing such crimes.

Residents and local leaders have expressed relief over the successful rescue.
