Police Probe Female Student’s Death in Anambra, Recover Final Note

ONITSHA, Anambra State — The Anambra State Police Command has launched an investigation into the suspected suicide of a 25-year-old female student in Onitsha, with officers recovering a final note from the scene detailing a relationship breakup that may have contributed to the tragedy.

The incident occurred on Saturday in the Omagba Phase Two area of Onitsha, where the deceased, identified as Miss Chiamaka Ifeanyi, was found dead in her apartment. Police detectives who visited the scene recovered a handwritten note in which the victim reportedly expressed distress over a recent breakup with her boyfriend.

According to police sources, the note contained emotional passages indicating that the deceased had been struggling to cope with the end of the relationship. The contents of the note have been logged as evidence and will form part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident and stated that the command has commenced a full investigation. He noted that the victim’s body has been deposited at a morgue for autopsy, and that the police are working to establish whether any foul play was involved.

“We are investigating the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident. The final note recovered from the scene has been taken into custody and will be examined as part of our investigation,” Ikenga said.

The police have also reached out to the victim’s family and are providing them with support as they navigate this difficult time. The command has urged members of the public to be mindful of their mental health and to seek help when dealing with emotional distress.
