Remove your posters from Kalu’s street lights, other projects — Abia-North traditional rulers warn Ohuabunwa

Traditional Rulers from Abia-North Senatorial District have sent a strong warning to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mao Ohuabunwa to desist from pasting his campaign posters on streetlights and other infrastructural projects constructed by the presiding Senator of the Zone, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

According to the Monarchs, aside from his signature Frying Pan empowerment, it’s a shame that Mao who had spent twelve monumental years at the Senate but couldn’t facilitate the smallest infrastructural project would have the boldness to paste his campaign materials on projects facilitated by Kalu in less than three years.

In a terse statement issued by the secretary to the traditional rulers, HRH Kalu Obasi on Friday, said Mao’s action is also capable of causing civil unrest amongst party faithfuls and communities in their bid to defend or oppose Mao’s actions and thus disrupt the peace currently being enjoyed in the zone.

The statement read in parts, “It is disturbing that a former Senator Mao Ohuabunwa has embarked on what we the traditional rulers consider as mischievous and shameless acts of Mao Ohuabunwa whose latest desperate antics to get back to power by defacing infrastructures done by our amiable Senator Kalu with his campaign posters.

“We consider this act as not only petty but capable of causing insecurity in our zone, in over three years we have enjoyed and still enjoy the leadership of our amiable Senator Kalu at the Senate who has facilitated numerous empowerment and infrastructure projects.

“According to our resolution in line with our constituents, in order to continue to enjoy uninterrupted dividends of democracy, we have unanimously decided to reelect Senator Kalu back to the Senate. We urge Mao and other aspirants to step down but if they have decided to proceed with their ambition they must do it in decorum to avoid a crisis.
