KADUNA, Nigeria — Troops have neutralised two terrorists and arrested eight suspects in coordinated operations in Kaduna and Zamfara states, while also recovering rustled cattle and rescuing a kidnapped victim, military authorities have confirmed.
According to security sources, the operations were conducted by troops of the Nigerian Army in collaboration with other security agencies, targeting terrorist enclaves and criminal hideouts in the affected states. The successful missions resulted in the elimination of two terrorists, the arrest of eight suspects, and the recovery of a significant number of rustled cattle.
In Kaduna State, troops acting on intelligence reports raided a suspected terrorist camp, engaging the criminals in a gun battle that led to the neutralisation of one terrorist. The operation also resulted in the arrest of several suspects and the recovery of weapons and ammunition.
In Zamfara State, a separate operation led to the neutralisation of another terrorist and the rescue of a kidnapped victim who had been held captive by criminal elements. The troops also recovered rustled cattle and other items believed to have been stolen by the terrorists.
The military has intensified its operations in the North-West region, where banditry and terrorism have continued to threaten the safety and security of communities. The troops have been conducting clearance operations and patrols to rid the area of criminal elements and restore peace.
The arrested suspects are currently in custody and are being interrogated to gather intelligence that could lead to further arrests and the dismantling of criminal networks. The military has commended the troops for their bravery and professionalism, urging them to sustain the momentum.
The operations underscore the military’s commitment to combating terrorism and banditry in the region. The military has also called on citizens to continue providing useful information to security agencies to aid in the fight against crime.
