‘Trump’s Agreement Doesn’t Bind Us’: Isreal Security Chief Rejects US-Iran Deal

Israel’s far-right National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, has openly rejected the recently announced agreement between the United States and Iran aimed at ending hostilities in the Middle East, insisting that Israel is not bound by the deal.

Speaking on his Telegram channel on Monday, Ben Gvir argued that the agreement does not address Israel’s security concerns and warned against any compromise with Hezbollah.

“Trump’s agreement does not bind us; we are not party to this agreement. It does not safeguard our security,” Ben Gvir said.

He added that Israel should pursue stronger measures against the Iran-backed Lebanese group.

“We must not settle for anything less than the dismantling of Hezbollah,” he stated.

Ben Gvir’s remarks come after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Washington and Tehran had reached an agreement to end their conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes.

The announcement triggered a decline in global oil prices as markets reacted to expectations of easing tensions in the region.

Trump described the agreement as a breakthrough, declaring that shipping through the strategic waterway would resume without restrictions.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi also confirmed in a televised interview that a memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington had been finalized.

Despite the announcement, questions remain over the long-term future of Iran’s nuclear programme, with further negotiations expected in the coming months.

Ben Gvir’s rejection of the agreement highlights potential divisions between Washington and some members of Israel’s government over how to address Iran and its regional allies.
