US Intel Agencies alleges Russian, Iranian plot to sabotage American poll
The US intelligence community warns that foreign adversaries, particularly Russia and Iran are escalating efforts to undermine election confidence and fuel American divisions.
“Russia is the most active threat,” say the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, FBI, and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.
Russia-linked actors are spreading fake content to instill fear, suggest violence among Americans due to political differences, and erode trust in the election.
“We anticipate Russian actors will release additional manufactured content with these themes through Election Day and in the days and weeks after polls close.”
This risks inciting violence, including against election officials.
Iran also remains a significant threat, having conducted malicious cyber activities against former President Trump’s campaign.
The IC added that Iran “also remains a significant foreign influence threat.” The agencies previously determined that Iran “conducted malicious cyber activities to compromise former President Trump’s campaign.”
The US holds today, November 5, and Diaspora Digital Media promises to bring you updates as event unfold.
