Viral Video: Sen. Abbo denies involvement in controversial sex tape

Adamawa State senator, Ishaku Abbo, has found himself at the center of controversy once again, this time over an alleged sex scandal involving a viral video.

The video, which emerged late last week, depicts a light-skinned man reportedly engaging in sexual intercourse with a woman who is said to be married.

The man in the video has been widely speculated to be Senator Abbo, although no credible sources have substantiated this claim.

The senator, known for attacking a breastfeeding mother in a sex shop, now denies the new allegations.

Following the video’s release and its rapid spread online, Senator Abbo addressed the media in a press conference held on August 29, 2024.

During the conference, he strongly denied being the man in the video.

“How can you identify a person without seeing his face, his body, only parts of his legs, and you said it is Senator Abbo,” he challenged.

Senator Abbo, removed from the Senate by an Appeal Court earlier this year, blamed the scandal on his political opponents.

He accused them of sponsoring what he described as “timid blackmail.”

Meanwhile, another video appeared on social media supporting the allegations against Senator Abbo.

In this video, a lady claimed to be the person in the leaked sex tape and accused Senator Abbo of threatening her life.

Details of the viral video

The viral video at the center of the controversy features a light-skinned man engaging in sexual activity with a woman who is reportedly married.

The video only shows parts of the man’s body, such as his legs, sparking speculation about his identity and investigation.

Despite the lack of clear visual evidence, many online commentators and social media users have linked the man to Senator Ishaku Abbo.

However, this claim has not been substantiated by any credible sources.

The video has drawn significant attention due to its provocative nature and the public figure allegedly involved.

Profile and political history

Senator Abbo was born on May 2, 1976, in Mubi North, Adamawa State, Nigeria.

He gained significant attention in the political arena in 2019.

That year, he was elected Senator for Adamawa North under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform.

Abbo’s Senate victory marked the start of his tenure, making him one of the youngest senators in Nigeria.

Abbo’s political journey has been marked by both achievements and controversies.

As a senator, he was involved in various legislative activities, particularly those that impacted his constituency.

He later switched from PDP to the Progressive Congress (APC), aligning himself with Nigeria’s ruling party.

Senator Abbo’s previous notorious incident

One of the most notorious incidents in Senator Abbo’s career occurred in July 2019.

A video surfaced showing him physically assaulting a woman, Osimibibra Warmate, in a sex toy shop in Abuja.

CCTV footage captured Abbo repeatedly slapping the woman while a police officer stood by, failing to intervene.

This incident sparked nationwide outrage and severely tarnished Abbo’s public image.

The assault led to widespread condemnation from various quarters, including civil society groups, women’s rights organizations, and fellow politicians.

The Nigerian Senate initially set up a committee to investigate the incident, but the outcome was inconclusive.

However, Abbo was later arraigned before a court, where he faced charges of assault.

Despite public pressure, the court dismissed the case due to insufficient prosecution, drawing criticism for perceived judicial failure.

Although he apologized publicly, the incident continues to tarnish his reputation, frequently resurfacing in debates about his character.

Despite this, Abbo served as a senator until the Court of Appeal removed him in October 2023 due to election disputes.
