In the early hours of Thursday, May 1, 2025, the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce arrested a young woman and 43 men during a series of raids on various hideouts around Victoria Island, Lagos State.
Diaspora digital media (DDM) revealed that the arrests were carried out around 2:00 a.m. in response to repeated complaints from residents about illegal activities in the area.
Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, confirmed the arrests via his official X handle on Thursday morning.
He revealed that the suspects were apprehended at multiple locations, including the Victoria Island end of the Falomo Bridge, Oyin Jolayemi, Eko Hotel Roundabout, Ligali Ayorinde, Oniru Beach, and the 1004 Flats area.

Wahab explained that the arrested individuals would face charges in court after investigations into their unlawful activities are concluded.
