ADC Delta shocks rivals, endorses Peter Obi for 2027 presidency

(DDM) – The Delta South chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared its full support for former Labour Party candidate Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential race.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the endorsement was made during a sensitization rally where party leaders described Obi as the “man of the people” destined to occupy Aso Rock.

The group insisted that the Obi project is non-negotiable, adding that his candidacy represents the hope of national unity, renewal, and accountable governance.

ADC leaders commended grassroots supporters in Northern Nigeria for their growing mobilization in favour of Obi, noting that his popularity is spreading across ethnic and religious divides.

They further urged Southerners, particularly Deltans, to intensify political mobilization, stressing that the northern structures are already solidly in motion.

According to the group, widespread awareness campaigns are ongoing in rural communities to position Obi as the consensus candidate of ordinary Nigerians.

Speakers at the rally emphasized that Nigerians must “go and verify” the momentum sweeping across the country, pointing to Obi’s past record as governor of Anambra State and his 2023 campaign as proof of his credibility.

They declared that the 2027 elections will not be business as usual, predicting a political earthquake that will redefine Nigeria’s leadership direction.

Political observers note that this is a significant move, as smaller parties rarely endorse a rival candidate years before an election.

Analysts suggest the endorsement underscores Obi’s enduring appeal as a reformist figure, despite losing the 2023 presidential contest under the Labour Party platform.

The ADC Delta South chapter, however, argued that partisan labels matter less than unity of purpose, stressing that the goal is to rescue Nigeria from failed leadership.

They described Obi as a unifier who enjoys trust across tribes and regions, citing his rising northern support base as evidence of a shifting political reality.

Critics, however, argue that such endorsements might fracture ADC’s internal consensus, especially since the party leadership had earlier announced plans to produce its own presidential candidate through consensus.

Still, Obi’s supporters hailed the development, saying it reflects the will of the people and a growing coalition determined to secure victory in 2027.

Observers say the latest endorsement strengthens the narrative of a pan-Nigerian movement rallying around Obi as a figure of renewal.

Whether the national leadership of ADC will formally align with this position remains unclear, but Delta South leaders vowed not to retreat.

For them, the 2027 contest is not just about politics but about charting a new future for Nigerians who feel betrayed by decades of failed governance.
