“Technology Skills essential for youths to compete globally” – Algorand Foundation

Algorand Foundation, a global blockchain organization disclosed that youths need technology skills for global competitiveness at the launch of the Algorand Hackathon: Nigeria summit in Jalingo, Taraba State.
According to report, the Country Head of Algorand in Nigeria, Mr. Benjamin Onuoha, emphasized the importance of technological advancement for youths.
The event brought together tech experts from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Mr. Onuoha stressed that states must invest in empowering their youths with technical know-how to create solutions for local and national challenges.
“A state seeking progress must equip its youths with skills to compete well in the global technology ecosystem”, he said.
He stated that the hackathon aims to develop blockchain-based solutions that enable individuals to control their digital identities independently.
Participants will also design innovative solutions to improve supply chain transparency, security, and efficiency.
He said that it would create the next generation of fast, transparent, and accessible payment platforms.
According to him, these initiatives promote financial inclusion, regardless of location or economic status.
He established that valuable prizes and opportunities are available for the winners.
Mr. Gideon Nonso noted that the state’s commitment to supporting its youth is demonstrated by hosting the hackathon.
Mr. Nonso is the commissioner for Digital Economy and Innovation.
He insinuated that it will embrace blockchain technology which in turn will enhance transparency and efficiency in governance.
Governor Agbu Kefas is also keen to partner with organizations to boost technological advancement in young people.
The Algorand Foundation has previously collaborated with states to organize training programs, fostering digital literacy and empowering young Nigerians in blockchain technology and software development.
These programs equip youths with the skills and expertise needed to drive digitalization and blockchain adoption.
Report revealed that this initiative is part of a larger movement to enhance digital skills among African youths.
Organizations like Junior Achievement Nigeria and UNITAR also work to upskill young people and prepare them for the digital economy as reported.

The Communications, Information Technology and Academy of the Diaspora Digital Media hosted a thought-provoking seminar titled “Future-Proof Your Career: Tech and Media Skills for the Digital Age,” on October 27, 2024.
The event was hosted by Mr. Lawrence James at the DDM Auditorium, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria.
It aimed at impacting valuable insights into the growing demand for tech and media skills.
In addition, the increasing importance of technological advancements and media literacy in the job market was emphasized.
It featured expert speakers like Mr. Joseph Mmadubuike – Software Engineer Instructor at DDM Academy.
Mr. Michael Anwuluorah – Data Analyst Instructor at DDM Academy was also part of the expert speaker.
And Annie James Lawrence, AI Engineer – Data Analyst and Team Lead at The Data Immersed (TDI), enlightened the guests on AI .
The seminar also highlighted DDM Academy’s commitment to providing a well-rounded education in tech and media.
The event was also livestreamed on Diaspora Digital Media’s YouTube channel.
This was aimed to give access to a wider audience to benefit from the insightful discussions.
