Nigerian music star Davido has spoken about his family’s long-standing involvement in Nigerian politics, highlighting the political figures who have emerged from his family over the years.
Davido, whose uncle Ademola Adeleke is the Governor of Osun State, described the governor as his uncle and pointed to similarities between their positions within the family.
“My uncle Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, is the last born of the family, just like me,” Davido reportedly said.
The singer also revealed that his grandfather was a senator, while his late uncle, Isiaka Adeleke, popularly known as “Serubawon,” served as the first Executive Governor of Osun State.
“My grandfather was also a senator, and my late uncle ‘Sherubawon’ was the first Executive Governor of Osun State,” he added.
Davido concluded by acknowledging the family’s deep political history, saying, “So, there’s politics in our blood.”
The comments have renewed interest in the Adeleke family’s political legacy, particularly following Ademola Adeleke’s re-election as Osun State governor.
The family has maintained a significant presence in Osun politics, with Isiaka Adeleke becoming the state’s first civilian governor after its creation in 1991.
Davido himself has become increasingly vocal about political issues in recent years, particularly matters concerning governance, elections and youth participation.
His latest remarks offer a glimpse into the family background behind his growing involvement in public and political conversations.
