The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for purchasing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration PINs.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that candidates now have until March 8, 2025, to buy their e-PINs and complete their registration for the 2025 UTME.

JAMB extended the deadline after receiving complaints from candidates struggling to obtain their PINs before the initial closing date.

The board aims to ensure that all eligible candidates have enough time to complete their registration without unnecessary difficulties.

The PIN vending extension will help students in remote areas who faced challenges accessing registration centers.

JAMB conducts the UTME annually for students seeking admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education in Nigeria.

Candidates must purchase a UTME PIN before registering online through JAMB’s official portal or accredited centers.

The registration process involves creating a profile, obtaining the PIN, and completing biometric verification before submitting the application.

For the 2025 UTME, registration started on January 15, 2025, and was originally set to close on February 26, 2025.

Many candidates experienced network failures, payment delays, and long queues, making it difficult to obtain the PINs before the deadline.

JAMB responded by extending the deadline, allowing more students to complete their UTME registration successfully.

JAMB’s justification for the extension

JAMB said the extension prevents qualified candidates from missing the UTME due to factors beyond their control.

The board assured that banks, mobile money operators, and online platforms would continue selling UTME PINs until the new deadline.

Candidates who have purchased their PINs but have not registered must complete their application before the deadline.

Failure to complete registration before March 8, 2025, will lead to automatic disqualification from the examination.

Advice to candidates and next steps

Candidates should buy their PINs early and complete registration to avoid last-minute challenges.

JAMB warned that there will be no further extensions after March 8, 2025.

The board advised candidates to use only JAMB-accredited registration centers to avoid purchasing fake PINs.

JAMB reassured the public of its commitment to a transparent and smooth examination process.
