Alex Otti no fit tell him supporters make dem go another party – Abia LP Chairman

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has publicly denied involvement in any political coalition seeking to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in a video seen by Politics Nigeria, and monitored by Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), Otti stated clearly that he remains a committed member of the Labour Party and has no plans to decamp to any other political platform.

This statement comes amidst swirling speculations that the Abia governor had joined a coalition being led by opposition figures, including former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, to challenge the current All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

While acknowledging that people are free to hold dreams and ambitions, Governor Otti emphasized that he is currently focused on fulfilling his mandate to the people of Abia State.

“He has a right to dream. I also have a right to state that I am still a member of the Labour Party and I am not looking for where to decamp to,” Otti declared.

Responding to repeated questions about his alleged membership in the opposition coalition, the governor said there is no evidence linking him to any such alliance.

“And the response is, have you seen my name? Have you seen me attend any coalition meeting? I’ve not,” he told journalists.

Otti, a known ally of Peter Obi, admitted that while some individuals from various political camps have reached out to him for informal inquiries, no formal invitation has been extended to him regarding any coalition.

“So, we’re just busy doing the work that Abia people have given us. So, we’re not attending any coalition meetings, and I’ve not attended one. Nobody has invited me,” he clarified.

The governor’s statement appears to be a direct response to growing political tension within the Labour Party, which has faced internal rifts since the 2023 general elections.

Party stakeholders have been speculating over the future alignments of its prominent members, especially those seen as potential game-changers in the 2027 electoral contest.

Governor Otti’s comments seem intended to stabilize political narratives around his name and assure Labour Party loyalists of his continued dedication to the party’s ideals.

Political analysts believe that Otti’s firm denial could help calm internal party rifts and prevent unnecessary distractions from his administration’s developmental agenda in Abia State.

As 2027 draws closer, the political landscape is heating up, with various opposition figures reportedly strategizing on ways to form a united front against the ruling APC.

However, Otti insists he remains focused on governance and is uninterested in engaging in speculative coalition talks that have yet to materialize.
