Corpses dressed and awaiting burial: A sobering reflection on life’s impermanence

According to Diaspora digital media (DDM), every week, the morgue prepares corpses for burial.

These lifeless bodies, once filled with ambition, laughter, and struggles, now await their final journey.

It is a stark reminder of the fleeting nature of life.

The sight of corpses, carefully dressed and arranged for burial, speaks volumes about the certainty of death.

No one, regardless of status, wealth, or power, can escape the reality of death.

Despite the vibrant activities of daily life, one truth remains unchanged: today belongs to the living, but tomorrow is never guaranteed.

Many people live as though they own the world and control their future.

However, just like the corpses in the morgue, every individual will one day face the inevitable.

“For dust you are, and to dust you shall return” (Genesis 3:19).

The reality of death should encourage people to live with purpose, humility, and a sense of responsibility.

Life is a precious gift, but it is also unpredictable and short.

While it is essential to enjoy life, feed well, and celebrate achievements, wealth remains temporary.

Money, no matter how much is saved, cannot buy time or extend life indefinitely.

Savings, no matter how substantial, can be spent by individuals who did not contribute to earning them.

Properties accumulated over a lifetime may end up in the hands of those who never struggled for them.

The morgue holds the remains of both the wealthy and the poor, serving as a great equalizer of humanity.

The corpses there tell no tales of financial status but only remind the living of the need for wisdom.

“For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out” (1 Timothy 6:7).

True fulfillment does not come from mere accumulation but from living in harmony with others.

Many of the corpses in the morgue once had relationships, friendships, and families.

However, grudges and bitterness often outlived them, leaving unresolved conflicts behind.

How many people have died with hatred in their hearts and left behind unresolved disputes?

It is crucial to live in peace with others, to forgive, and to seek forgiveness.

The burden of anger and resentment holds no value in the end.

The morgue does not discriminate; it holds the remains of both the forgiving and the unforgiving.

The choice remains for the living to decide which legacy to leave behind.

“Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy” (Hebrews 12:14).

People often fight over land, properties, and wealth, forgetting that death levels all human achievements.

How many corpses in the morgue once worried about money but now have no use for it?

How many people spent years pursuing wealth but never had the time to enjoy it before their death?

Life should not only be about personal gain but also about impacting others positively.

Those privileged with wealth and resources should extend kindness to the less privileged.

The corpses in the morgue serve as a reminder that no amount of riches can delay the inevitable.

However, acts of kindness, generosity, and love continue to speak even after one is gone.

The impact made on the lives of others becomes a lasting legacy that transcends the physical realm.

“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them” (Proverbs 19:17).

Beyond material possessions, there is a greater purpose to life.

Those who believe in the afterlife understand that the world is not the final destination.

The corpses in the morgue no longer have the opportunity to make amends or show love.

The living, however, still have time to choose the right path.

Choosing righteousness and making peace with God should take precedence over temporary pleasures.

If life’s only pursuit is earthly gain, then existence becomes meaningless.

“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” (Mark 8:36).

Many people believe they have time to change, but death often comes unexpectedly.

Some of the corpses in the morgue did not know their last day had arrived.

They left behind unfinished plans, unfulfilled dreams, and unspoken words.

How many had an opportunity to do good but wasted it on selfish desires?

How many had time to make peace with others but refused, only to leave this world unexpectedly?

As the week unfolds and new corpses arrive at the morgue, let it serve as a lesson to all.

Time is limited, and every moment should be spent wisely.

The morgue does not lie; it tells the truth that life is short and uncertain.

The world celebrates the living, but the morgue reminds us of the destiny that awaits everyone.

A person may hold grudges today, but tomorrow they might be among the lifeless bodies prepared for burial.

Houses, businesses, and possessions mean nothing when the final moment arrives.

Yet, the love, kindness, and good deeds of a person live on in the hearts of others.

“For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil” (Ecclesiastes 12:14).

A life lived in selfishness is a wasted existence, no matter how much wealth is acquired.

True riches come from a life of righteousness, peace, and service to humanity.

As new corpses are brought into the morgue, let the living reflect on their own mortality.

Let the uncertainty of life inspire people to pursue meaningful goals and nurture relationships.

No one can predict their final moment, but everyone can choose how they live today.

May the Almighty teach everyone to number their days and live with wisdom.

“So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12).

Life is a gift—one that should be cherished, shared, and lived with purpose
