Governor Sanwo-Olu Donates N75 Million to Nigerian Legion.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State donated N75 million to the Nigerian Legion, aiding Legionnaires and their families.

He made this generous donation during the Appeal Fund and the official launch of the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem at Lagos House, Marina, on Monday.

Notable attendees included Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and Secretary of State Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, highlighting the event’s significance.

The gathering included members of the State Executive Council, service commanders, the Lagos state Commissioner of Police, and Nigerian Legion officials.

At the event, organizers unveiled the emblem and Appeal Fund in preparation for Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

This significant day, which honors the sacrifices made by the armed forces, is set for January 15, 2025.

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized his administration’s commitment to the welfare of Legionnaires, particularly the elderly and families of fallen heroes.

He highlighted the ongoing need to honor their sacrifices and commended the Nigerian Legion for their dedication and selflessness.

Additionally, the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu promised to include Legionnaires in various welfare programs, ensuring continued support.

Responding to a request from DCG Akeem Olawale Wolimoh, Chairman of the Lagos State Council of the Nigerian Legion, Babajide Sanwo-Olu pledged several housing units in the Prince Abiodun Ogunleye Housing Estate.

This initiative aims to provide shelter for vulnerable and elderly Legionnaires, as well as addressing their critical needs.

He also pledged to provide security vehicles and equipment, enhancing the Nigerian Legion’s capabilities to protect lives and property statewide.

This commitment aims to strengthen their efforts in ensuring safety across the region while supporting community safety initiatives.

Earlier, DCG Wolimoh thanked Sanwo-Olu for his continuous support towards retired officers and families of fallen heroes in Lagos.

His administration fosters goodwill and solidarity, actively honoring and remembering the sacrifices made by these individuals.

He praised the Governor for judiciously utilizing the N50 million donation made last year for Legion welfare.

Governor Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Hamzat received the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem, honoring their dedicated service.
