Hajj 2025: Saudi Arabia makes meningitis vaccine mandatory for pilgrims

Saudi Arabia has made the meningitis vaccine compulsory for both its citizens and foreign pilgrims intending to perform Hajj in 2025.

According to local reports, the decision aims to protect pilgrims from infectious diseases during the holy pilgrimage, which will happen between June 7 and 12.

Authorities have stated that proof of vaccination will be required before purchasing Hajj packages or completing registration.

Officials have also made it clear that no pilgrim will be allowed to participate in Hajj 2025 without receiving the vaccine.

This policy applies not only to international visitors but also to Saudi residents planning to take part in the pilgrimage.

In light of this, authorities have urged all intending pilgrims to complete their vaccinations early to prevent any delays in the registration process.

Meanwhile, preparations for Hajj 2025 are in full swing, with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah working to ensure a smooth experience for pilgrims.

The ministry has assured that all necessary facilities will be provided for a comfortable pilgrimage.

To assist pilgrims, the ministry has set up a dedicated helpline for inquiries and support.

Pilgrims can reach Saudi authorities through the toll-free number 1966 for general guidance, while 977 is available round the clock for health and emergency services.

Fact about Hajj

Hajj is the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and one of the five pillars of Islam.

It claimed to be mandatory religious duty for every adult Muslim who is physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey at least once in their lifetime.

According to report, pilgrimage occurs during the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah.

The rituals performed over the annual meeting includes, circling the Kaaba, walking between the hills of Safa and Marwah, and gathering at Arafat for reflection and supplication.

These rituals commemorate the actions of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his family, symbolizing unity, sacrifice, and devotion to God.
