IG Disu Pledges Police Protection For Major National Projects

ABUJA, NIGERIA – Inspector-General of Police, Disu, has pledged stronger police protection for critical national infrastructure projects following a visit to the Federal Ministry of Works.

The visit formed part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between security agencies and government institutions responsible for executing strategic development projects across the country.

During discussions with officials of the ministry, the police chief assured authorities of adequate security support for projects considered vital to national development and economic growth.

He emphasized the importance of protecting public infrastructure from criminal activities, vandalism, and other threats capable of disrupting implementation and increasing project costs.

Focus On Critical Infrastructure

The Inspector-General noted that major infrastructure projects remain essential to economic development, transportation improvement, and national productivity.

He explained that security agencies must play an active role in ensuring that construction activities proceed without interruption.

Projects expected to receive enhanced attention include major road networks and other strategic facilities considered critical to national development plans.

Among the projects mentioned during the discussions was the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project, which has continued to attract national attention due to its scale and expected economic impact.

Authorities say such projects require adequate security arrangements because of their strategic importance and the volume of resources involved.
