The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has commenced the distribution of palliatives to beneficiaries across the 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria.

The flag-off of the distribution performed by the Commissioner representing Akwa Ibom State on the Governing Board of the Commission, Apostle Abasiandikan Nkono, was held in Uyo, the state capital, on Tuesday.

Apostle Nkono, speaking at the event, said the palliatives were distributed to cushion the effect of multiple flood disasters which affected many parts of the state between 2022 and 2023.

Stressing that the commission was in sync with the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda of the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, Apostle Nkono assured Akwa Ibom people that the federal government will continue identifying with them at all times.

He said the NDDC will embark on other life touching programmes and projects in the state.

“On behalf of the Managing Director and Chairman of the Governing Board of NDDC, I say that other projects especially roads shall be done. They’ll be construction of a good number of roads in the State”, he said, adding that the NDDC has enjoyed a robust relationship with the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno.

“Gone are the days when the state government used to clash with NDDC. It is not a competition . The development between NDDC and the state government should bring blessing to the entire state. Thank God, we have enjoyed a good robust relationship with the state government Pastor Umo Eno – same is applicable to other states of the federation.”
