Nigeria’s Super Eagles Eye Knockout Stage in Crucial AFCON Clash with Guinea-Bissau

Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, are on the verge of securing a spot in the knockout stage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. After a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Ivory Coast in their previous match, the West African powerhouse is determined to maintain their winning form as they face Guinea-Bissau in a crucial encounter on Monday.

However, the Super Eagles may enter the upcoming match without some key players due to injuries. Alhassan Yusuf, who delivered an impressive performance against Equatorial Guinea but missed the Ivory Coast game due to injury, might face another potential absence on Monday. Zaidu Sanusi is also in doubt for the Guinea-Bissau clash after sustaining a knock in the previous match.

In the absence of Yusuf and Sanusi, Coach Jose Peseiro has the option to choose between Bruno Onyemaechi from Boavista and Calvin Bassey from Fulham for the left-back position.

Captain William Troost-Ekong, after engaging in individual training sessions apart from the team, might be rested for the upcoming match against Guinea-Bissau. In case Troost-Ekong is unavailable, Coach Peseiro has reliable alternatives in Chidozie Awaziem and Kenneth Omeruo, with Awaziem featuring in the closing minutes of the Ivory Coast game.

Possible Starting Lineup: Nwabali, Aina, Ajayi, Omeruo, Bassey; Onyeka, Iwobi, Lookman, Chukwueze; Moffi, and Osimhen.

The highly anticipated match is scheduled to kick off at 6 PM (West African Time) on Monday. The Super Eagles aim to secure victory and advance to the knockout stage of the AFCON tournament.
