The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed his anger and frustration with Nigerian prosecutors and the judiciary, accusing them of being ignorant of the country’s legal framework.

According to Diaspora digital media (DDM) Kanu, who is currently in detention, made these remarks during his appearance at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, where he openly criticized the legal system in Nigeria.

During the court session, Kanu, visibly upset, spoke out against what he described as the “systemic legal ignorance” plaguing the nation’s judicial and prosecutorial processes.

According to Kanu, this lack of understanding of the law is contributing to widespread injustice and undermining the country’s legal integrity.

His outburst highlighted his growing frustration with the way the legal system is operating, especially in cases like his.

Kanu pointed out that Nigerian prosecutors and courts regularly fail to adhere to the country’s laws, which, in his view, is damaging the nation.

“Poor knowledge of the law by Nigerian courts and Nigeria’s prosecution is killing the country and orchestrating injustice,” he stated firmly.

He went on to assert that such ignorance leads to decisions that contradict established laws and regulations.

In his outburst, Kanu also referenced a federal gazetted law to illustrate his point about legal inconsistencies.

He explained that the law clearly states that the Chief Judge of Nigeria cannot direct Justice Binta Nyako on what to do, yet this has not been respected.

Kanu insisted, “This is a federal gazetted law of Nigeria that says here that the chief judge of Nigeria cannot tell Binta Nyako what to do. It is here, it’s your law; just obey it.”

His reference to this specific law underscored his belief that the legal system is failing to follow its own statutes.

Despite the ongoing legal battles, Kanu remained steadfast in his commitment to his cause.

He reiterated his determination to continue advocating for the secession of Biafra, stressing that his actions have always been in pursuit of what he believes is his right.

Kanu’s legal journey has been marked by accusations of treason and terrorism, which he has consistently rejected.

“That is why I do what I do. I agitate for Biafra, I agitate for Biafra. My right to agitate—they turned it from treasonable felony now to terrorism,” he declared in the courtroom.

Kanu’s anger reached a peak when he confronted the court directly, shouting, “Stop talking when I’m talking!”

His outburst highlighted his frustration with the proceedings and the perceived disregard for his rights.

The court appearance on Monday not only showcased Kanu’s defiance but also drew attention to the ongoing issues within the Nigerian legal system, which he claims is rife with ignorance and corruption.

As Kanu continues to face legal challenges, his passionate commitment to the cause of Biafra remains unchanged, and he has vowed to persist in his fight, despite the hurdles in his path.
