A professor of haematology-oncology and bone marrow transplantation and an alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Professor Usman Yusuf has hailed the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as the true leader of the Igbo Nation.
Professor Yusuf, who said this in a viral report on the internet, dismissed Ohaneze Ndigbo, the apex socio-cultural organisation of the Igbo nation, as a mere noise-maker.
He described Mazi Kanu as the true leader and the commander-in-chief of the South East region of Nigeria.
He said: “I have seen several Igbo men claiming leadership, but Nnamdi Kanu is different from most of them.
“He is focused, strategic in planning and has commanded a humongous number of followers across Nigeria and the globe whose loyalty is unquestionable.
“Nnamdi Kanu from the United Kingdom, gives an order to the youths and they are all obeying him, that is leadership.”
He, however, noted that it is a shame that Nnamdi Kanu should be the one calling the shot in the Southeast region.
Casting aspersion on other Igbo leaders, he asked:
“Where are the leaders, where are the Ohanaeze leaders? Where are the elders who should call the youths to order when they misbehave?”
He further noted with dismay that Nnamdi Kanu is the only leader the youths can trust and urged the governments to listen to him when he speaks.
