Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State hosted a banquet in honour of fellow governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to Diaspora digital media (DDM), the event took place on Sunday night in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

It coincided with the PDP Governors’ Forum meeting scheduled in the city.

The meeting is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Governor Makinde expressed his gratitude to the PDP governors who attended despite transportation challenges.

Ibadan is currently undergoing major airport renovations that have affected access to the city.

Despite this, PDP governors made their way to the venue, demonstrating strong commitment to party unity.

Governor Makinde shared his appreciation on his verified Twitter page on Monday.

He noted that the governors showed resilience by attending in spite of the limited flight operations.

Makinde described the gathering as a strategic one for the future of the PDP.

He emphasized the importance of repositioning the party as a strong alternative for Nigerians.

The governor stated that the forum was an opportunity to deliberate on the direction of the party.

According to Makinde, the PDP must begin early preparations for the 2027 elections.

The banquet also served as a platform to strengthen personal relationships among party leaders.

Photos from the event were shared via Makinde’s official Twitter account.

They showed a relaxed and united atmosphere among the governors in attendance.

The PDP Governors’ Forum has become a vital structure within the party’s leadership.

It brings together PDP governors to coordinate political strategy and improve governance.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State currently serves as the chairman of the forum.

Bala Mohammed is known for championing internal reforms and advocating for party reorganization.

He has been outspoken about the PDP’s need to regain public confidence before 2027.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State is another influential voice within the party.

Fintiri is admired for his contributions to education and youth empowerment.

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State was also likely present at the event.

Obaseki has driven economic development in Edo and remains a key player in the PDP since his 2020 defection from the APC.

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom represents the emerging generation of PDP leadership.

He is focused on continuing the developmental programs of his predecessor.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State is managing a politically sensitive region.

His leadership in a diverse state has gained national attention.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State is another prominent PDP governor.

He has prioritized infrastructure development and public welfare.

These governors represent the north, south, east, and west regions of Nigeria.

Their attendance reflects the PDP’s national reach and inclusive political agenda.

The Ibadan meeting was not merely ceremonial but aimed at strategic realignment.

It served as a platform for policy discussions and future planning.

The PDP lost national power in 2015 after holding it for 16 years.

Since then, the party has been working to rebuild and regain national relevance.

Meetings like the one in Ibadan show renewed energy and commitment among its leaders.

Governor Makinde continues to advocate for party unity and strategic focus.

Unity among governors is seen as a crucial foundation for the party’s national resurgence.

As the 2027 elections approach, more internal consultations and planning are expected.

The PDP governors are taking active steps to redefine the party’s identity and strategy.

The message from Ibadan is clear: the PDP is regrouping, rebuilding, and preparing to return to power.

Though the elections are two years away, the groundwork for 2027 has already begun.

With unity, planning, and effective leadership, the PDP hopes to reemerge as a dominant political force in Nigeria.
