Ycee Opens Up on His Extended Break from Music

Nigerian rapper and singer Oludemilade Martin Alejo, popularly known as Ycee, has finally addressed his noticeable absence from the music scene in recent years.

The “Juice” crooner spoke during a livestream session with comedian and content creator Carter Efe, where he shed light on the reasons behind his hiatus.

According to Ycee, his time away from music was intentional and necessary for personal growth. He explained that he stepped back from the spotlight to focus on self-discovery and gaining clarity about his life and career.

“I have been on the mountain. I went on a journey of self-discovery. But I am back,” he said.

The artist’s statement suggests a renewed sense of purpose as he prepares to re-enter the music space.

During the conversation, Ycee also shared the story behind his popular nickname, “Omo Alhaji,” revealing that it was inspired by his father’s Muslim background.

Before his break, Ycee was regarded as one of Nigeria’s prominent music acts, gaining widespread recognition with hit songs like “Jagaban,” “Juice,” and “Omo Alhaji.”
