Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, presented a budget proposal of N755.5 billion for the 2025 fiscal year.
Presenting the budget titled “Budget of Expanded Economic Opportunities,” Uzodinma informed the House of the total amount.
The budget includes a recurrent expenditure of N112.3 billion and a capital expenditure of N643.3 billion.
Governor Uzodinma assured Imo lawmakers that all ministries and relevant sectors were captured in the 2025 appropriation bill.
He emphasized that the budget aims to ensure all segments receive a positive impact.
Summarizing the budget, Uzodinma explained that the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure Development received 46 percent.
This amounts to a total sum of N296.5 billion, followed by the Ministry of Transportation with N101 billion.
The Ministry of Education received the least amount, with N7.4 billion allocated.
Uzodinma prioritized the total implementation of the budget to achieve maximum results.
He pointed out that the 2025 budget leverages the achievements recorded in the 2024 budget.
Uzodinma stated that his administration did its best to ensure the full implementation of the 2024 budget.
He highlighted several laudable projects achieved, including the ongoing flyover at Assumpta roundabout.
Other projects include the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre and the dualization of Owerri-Umuahia road.
Uzodinma thanked the House for its support towards his administration’s success and the cordial relationship between the two arms of government.
Earlier, Speaker of the House, Chike Olemgbe, appreciated the governor for presenting the budget.
Olemgbe assured Uzodinma of the speedy passage of the bill and continuous support for his administrative programs.
These programs aim to alleviate poverty and restructure the state’s economy.
Uzodinma’s budget presentation marks a significant step towards Imo State’s development and progress.
