(DDM) — As preparations intensify ahead of the Anambra Governorship Election, the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative to promote transparency, accountability, and citizen participation through its new VoteGuard Mobile App.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the VoteGuard App is designed to empower citizens to serve as real-time election monitors by uploading polling unit results, reporting irregularities, and tracking live updates during the voting process.

According to COPDEM, the initiative seeks to protect the integrity of the ballot and ensure that every valid vote cast in Anambra counts.

The organisation described the app as “a digital shield for democracy,” enabling patriotic Nigerians to join the frontline of electoral defense from their mobile phones.

“Every true patriot must rise to defend democracy,” COPDEM stated. “The VoteGuard App gives volunteers the power to expose rigging, monitor polling stations, and share verified results instantly.”

The mobile platform, currently available for Android devices only, can be downloaded from the following verified links compatible with different phone models:

DDM reports that the call for volunteers has gained massive attention across social media platforms, with COPDEM emphasizing that participation is strictly for “those ready to fight for truth and electoral justice.”

The group also noted that data collected through the VoteGuard App will be encrypted and transmitted to a secure cloud server to prevent tampering or manipulation.

Speaking on the development, a COPDEM spokesperson said the app represents “a new era of citizen-led election protection” and a direct response to years of public outcry over electoral malpractice and result falsification.

“The Anambra election will be a test of integrity,” the spokesperson added. “Through technology, we can ensure that the will of the people prevails.”

Observers say the VoteGuard initiative could mark a significant shift in Nigeria’s democratic landscape, particularly if adopted in future national elections.

The platform combines real-time data monitoring with geolocation tagging, ensuring that every uploaded result can be verified by location and timestamp.

With less than a month to the Anambra Governorship Election, COPDEM’s call for polling unit volunteers has been described as one of the boldest civic mobilisation efforts since Nigeria’s 2019 general elections.

“Let’s guard the votes and defend Nigeria’s democracy,” the organisation declared, urging citizens across the 21 local government areas of Anambra to register, download the app, and join the #VoteGuardMovement.
