Nigerian media personality and influencer Emmanuel Obruste (GehGeh) has stirred conversations online after criticizing Nigerian youths and security agencies over their response to bad governance and rising insecurity.

In a post shared on his social media page, GehGeh expressed disappointment in what he described as a lack of collective action among young Nigerians. He argued that, unlike in countries such as South Africa, citizens and security forces in Nigeria do not effectively collaborate to address national challenges.

Drawing a comparison, he claimed that South Africans often come together to push for change, with subtle support from their government and police. In contrast, he alleged that the Nigerian system lacks such synergy, leaving critical issues unresolved.

“See how South African people came out to carry out a mission and their government supported them on the low. You see their police force supporting them, too,” he said.

GehGeh went further to criticize the Nigerian police, accusing them of focusing on less critical matters such as internet fraudsters and lifestyle-related cases, rather than prioritizing pressing security concerns affecting the country.

He also directed his criticism at Nigerian youths, stating that many are not willing to stand up against bad leadership or demand accountability from politicians. According to him, this reluctance has contributed to the persistence of poor governance.

His remarks have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some agreeing with his stance on the need for greater civic engagement, while others argue that systemic challenges make it difficult for young people to mobilize effectively.

The conversation adds to ongoing national debates about governance, security, and the role of citizens especially youths in shaping the future of the country.
