December 10, 2005, is a day that will forever be etched in the memories of Nigerians.

On that fateful day, a Sosoliso Airlines flight, a DC-9 aircraft, crashed on landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport in Rivers State, Nigeria.

The tragedy resulted in the loss of 108 lives, with only two survivors left to pick up the pieces.

The Sosoliso plane crash was a devastating reminder of the importance of aviation safety.

The crash was a wake-up call for the Nigerian government, which was forced to confront the reality of its inadequate aviation safety regulations.

In the aftermath of the crash, the Nigerian government launched an investigation into the incident, which revealed a combination of human error and technical failures as the likely causes of the crash.

The investigation’s findings led to significant reforms in Nigeria’s aviation industry, including the establishment of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the implementation of stricter safety regulations.

Today, as we remember the victims of the Sosoliso plane crash, Diaspora Digital Media  honour their memory by reaffirming our commitment to aviation safety.

We must continue to prioritize safety in our aviation industry, ensuring that our airports, airlines, and regulatory bodies adhere to the highest safety standards.

As we reflect on this devastating incident, we must recommit ourselves to ensuring that such a tragedy never occurs again.
