Insecurity: Pastor Urges Followers to Get Fortified

A pastor in Nigeria, Oloruntimilehin Daramola, has sparked online debate after urging his congregation to “get fortified” against potential armed attacks. The message, captured in a video circulating on TikTok, comes as security concerns continue to rise across communities in the country.

In the clip, shared on an account appearing to belong to him, @kingbosoro, Daramola, dressed in a purple robe and cross chain, advised church members to take measures to protect themselves from attackers. The authenticity of the TikTok account and the date of the sermon are yet to be independently verified.

Calls for Self-Protection and Firearm Access

Daramola, who identifies as the Founder of The Omnipotence Mission of God, encouraged members to consider unconventional methods of self-protection, including the use of bees or other creative means to thwart attacks. He also called on the Federal Government to expand citizens’ access to firearms, framing it as necessary for community safety.

“You members, go and do something that can protect you,” he said. “If they come with guns to your surroundings, they will face each other and shoot each other.”

The pastor emphasized that failure to follow his guidance would lead to expulsion from the church, insisting he could not “be fortified” while his congregation remained vulnerable.

References to Past Church Attacks

During the sermon, Daramola cited attacks on churches in Owo and Kaduna, noting that even those calling on Jesus were not spared. He stated:

“When they got to Owo, some people shouted the name of Jesus… but still perished. The same happened in Kaduna. Protection must come through action.”

He invited individuals to meet him privately for guidance on what he described as the “right steps to take”, emphasizing that his church has branches in America, London, and Nigeria.
