Manchester united rejects osimhen over high wage demands
DDM News

Manchester United has decided against signing Victor Osimhen due to his £20 million per season wage demands.
Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the club is currently focused on reducing its £365 million wage bill while restructuring its financial operations.
Osimhen has been linked with Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Nigerian striker is currently on loan at Galatasaray after a dispute with Napoli’s hierarchy.
Reports suggest that Osimhen will leave Napoli permanently after the 2024/25 season.
Chelsea previously attempted to sign him last summer, but the deal fell through at the last moment.
Arsenal has also been rumored to be preparing a bid to trigger Osimhen’s €75 million release clause.
Despite the ongoing speculation, Manchester United is unlikely to pursue the Nigerian forward due to financial constraints.
Osimhen’s Career and Transfer Speculations
Victor Osimhen began his European football journey at Lille, where he showcased his exceptional goal-scoring ability.
His impressive performances secured him a record-breaking move to Napoli in 2020.
Osimhen played a crucial role in Napoli’s Serie A title-winning campaign in 2022/23.
He emerged as the league’s top scorer with 26 goals, solidifying his reputation as an elite striker.
Despite his on-field success, tensions with Napoli’s management led to speculation about his departure.
Chelsea and Manchester United both expressed interest in signing him during the 2023 summer transfer window.
However, Manchester United prioritized financial stability over making an expensive acquisition.
The club is now shifting its focus to young players with lower wage demands.
Manchester United’s Transfer Strategy
Manchester United is undergoing a major restructuring process to cut costs and ensure financial stability.
The club is now focusing on young talents with lower salary expectations rather than marquee signings.
Former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson believes Osimhen does not fit United’s transfer policy.
“I think there are two key aspects to the Osimhen deal,” Borson said in an interview.
“The first is whether Manchester United has the funds to afford him,” he added.
“I suspect they don’t have the cash unless shareholders inject additional money,” Borson explained.
“This alone makes the transfer difficult,” he emphasized.
Borson also suggested that Manchester United is no longer pursuing players like Osimhen.
“There are enough signs that Osimhen is not the type of player United wants right now,” he said.
“His transfer fee, even at £62 million, might be more than United is willing to pay,” he noted.
“His age is also borderline for the club’s recruitment strategy,” Borson added.
“The biggest obstacle is his wages, which could reach £20 million per year,” he explained.
“I don’t see United committing to such high wages at this point,” he concluded.
Manchester United’s Changing Financial Priorities
Manchester United has been reducing spending on high-profile players with enormous wage demands.
The club is now prioritizing long-term squad development over short-term, high-cost signings.
United’s owners are working to significantly lower the club’s overall wage bill.
This shift in strategy makes a move for Osimhen highly unlikely.
Borson believes United will continue this approach in future transfer windows.
“I think United will focus on young, talented players with lower salaries,” he predicted.
“They want to rebuild their squad without excessive spending,” Borson added.
“This will lead to a significant decrease in United’s annual wage bill,” he noted.
Osimhen’s Current Form and Future Prospects
Despite uncertainty about his future, Osimhen has maintained impressive form this season.
He has recorded 22 goals and five assists in 28 matches for Galatasaray.
Osimhen’s performances have kept him on the radar of Europe’s top clubs.
Napoli appears prepared to sell their star striker permanently.
Arsenal has reportedly shown serious interest in signing Osimhen for the next season.
If United does not alter its transfer strategy, Osimhen will likely join another club.
For now, Manchester United remains committed to financial restructuring over expensive signings.
A move for Osimhen is not part of their immediate plans.
