Media shy Nigerian governor’s pix causes stir in social media

Pictures of Mallam Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq of Kwara in Nigeria in Kaaba, Mecca, on minor pilgrimage is a subject of media buzz in his north central state after it surfaced earlier today.
The governor is characteristically media shy where most of his peers are all too keen about hugging the kleiglights.
But the picture of Governor in the holy city performing religious obligation in the month of Ramadan has stirred excitement.
“Governor Abdulrazaq is a kind of enigma for most people in Kwara so you should expect such pictures to be viral,” explained a former state chairman of Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ.
“In five years as a governor, he has granted a full interview only once on newspaper.
“This is quite unusual for not just a governor but also chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF,” said the senior journalist who not only elected to speak off record.
Governor Abdulrazaq apparently authorized the release of the pictures with accompanying exhortations.
“In this last lap of the month of Ramadan, it is a privilege for me to again join other servants of God from across the world to perform the Lesser Hajj at the pristine House of God (Kaabah) in Makkah.
“The large gathering at the blessed House of Allaah is a remembrance of the oneness of the human community and a need for us to act as such in our daily endeavours for peace and progress.
It is a moment for introspection and a time to seek the blessings of God on the human race, our state Kwara, Nigeria, Mr. President and his team, and everyone,” the governor said.
