Police post to be established at Nnamdi Azikiwe University

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu, has expressed delight in the establishment of a police post within the premises of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

This development follows his courtesy visit to the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu who announced that a piece of land has already been provided.

The visit was described as historic, marking the first time in recent memory that a Commissioner of Police has officially visited the office of a sitting Vice-Chancellor of UNIZIK.

During discussions, CP Orutugu acknowledged the university’s critical role in nurturing leaders across various sectors and emphasized the need for a secure environment to facilitate academic excellence.

CP Orutugu also expressed concern over crime rates around the Ifite and Amansea axis. To combat this issue, he confirmed that a designated plot of land, already approved for security purposes, will be developed into a fully operational police post.

This initiative aims to curb criminal activities and reinforce safety measures within and around the university community.
