SDP disowns Idris Inuwa, confirms El-Rufai’s membership
By Kingsley Ikechukwu

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has publicly disowned Idris Inuwa, accusing him of impersonation and spreading falsehoods.
Dr Kingsley Ikechukwu in an interview disclosed to Diaspora digital media (DDM) that the party’s National Secretariat, along with its 36 state branches and the FCT, denounced Inuwa’s claims in a strongly worded statement.
According to the party, Inuwa falsely presented himself as the Assistant National Secretary for the North-West Zone.
At a recent press briefing, Inuwa refuted claims of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s membership in the SDP.
He alleged that El-Rufai and some other individuals did not follow the proper registration process.
Inuwa claimed that neither the Kaduna North Local Government Chapter nor the Unguwar Sarki Ward had any records of El-Rufai’s membership.
His statements implied that El-Rufai’s affiliation with the SDP was a fabricated rumor.
However, the SDP swiftly dismissed these claims, labeling Inuwa an impostor with no official position in the party.
The party urged the public to disregard Inuwa’s statements as baseless and misleading.
In a direct challenge, the SDP called on Inuwa to provide evidence of his supposed position.
He was asked to publicly present his membership card and certificate of return as Assistant Zonal Secretary.
The party suggested that Inuwa was acting on behalf of desperate political elements.
These individuals, according to the SDP, are struggling to maintain relevance amid shifting political dynamics.
The party accused them of attempting to discredit the SDP’s rising influence.
Despite these distractions, the SDP reiterated its focus on national progress and electoral credibility.
The party reaffirmed that Nasir El-Rufai is a bonafide member and chieftain of the SDP.
It warned against the spread of misinformation and urged party members to remain vigilant.
The statement also hinted at possible legal action against those deliberately propagating falsehoods.
SDP officials reassured the public that all membership registrations are conducted through a transparent process.
They emphasized that El-Rufai, like all members, had followed the necessary procedures.
Supporters were advised to ignore political theatrics meant to sow confusion within the party.
The SDP maintained that it remains a credible alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape.
The controversy surrounding Inuwa’s claims reflects deeper tensions within opposition politics.
Observers believe it is part of a larger power struggle ahead of the 2027 elections.
Political analysts suggest that more attempts to discredit the SDP’s leadership may emerge.
Despite these challenges, the party insists that it will not be distracted.
It remains committed to its mission of good governance and national development.
With the SDP’s growing popularity, further political confrontations are expected.
