The United States has advised its citizens in several Middle Eastern countries to remain on high alert and prepare to leave the region as fears grow over a possible escalation in the ongoing conflict.
US embassies in Jordan, Israel and Iraq issued security alerts urging Americans living or travelling in the region to consider departing or be ready to evacuate if the security situation deteriorates.
The embassies also advised citizens to closely monitor flight schedules, follow instructions from local authorities and prepare for possible flight cancellations, airspace closures and travel disruptions.
In Jordan, the US Embassy urged Americans to avoid US military facilities following recent Iranian missile attacks on American bases in the country.
In Israel, the embassy advised residents to identify the nearest bomb shelters and remain prepared for emergency situations, warning that Iran’s recent military actions highlight the unpredictable nature of the conflict.
The security alerts came after a drone strike hit a US-owned gas vessel at an Egyptian port on Wednesday, sparking a fire. Egyptian authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, but no group has claimed responsibility.
Meanwhile, Iran’s military accused the United States of escalating tensions in the region, warning that any country providing military support to Washington could become a target.
The latest travel advisories follow renewed exchanges of fire between the US and Iran after a brief lull in hostilities, raising fresh concerns about a wider conflict across the Middle East.
