A Human Rights Activist, Comrade Paul I. Njoku, has condemned in very strong terms, ‘the barbaric and gruesome killing of five soldiers in Anambra State by criminal elements’ on Wednesday.
Comrade Njoku made the remarks in a press release he made available to News Band on Thursday.
He urged personnel of the Nigerian army not to engage in unprofessional arrest, senseless incarceration, wanton killings, destructions, decimation of towns and annihilation of innocent and defenseless people in the name of vengeance.
He, however, charged law enforcements agencies to identify and bring to book “the perpetrators of this murderous terrorist act”.
Njoku stated: “The barbaric and gruesome killing of five soldiers in Anambra State by criminal elements is totally condemnable and unacceptable.
“I therefore urge the Nigerian army not to engage in unprofessional arrest, senseless incarceration, wanton killings, destructions, decimation of towns and annihilation of innocent and defenseless people of Anambra in an attempt to show deadly retribution or vengeance.
“Perpetrators of this murderous terrorist act must be identified and brought to book according to the constitutional standard of criminal investigation with respect to human and peoples’ rights.
“Justice must be served the right way. I empathize with the families of those who lost their beloved sons, husbands, friends and brothers.
“May their souls rest in peace,” he concluded. Read more.
