The pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, has firmly dismissed allegations made against Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the accusations were made by Atiku Abubakar Isah, a factional president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

In a statement signed by Afenifere’s National Organising Secretary, Abagun Kole Omololu, the group described the claims as “salacious, fallacious, and completely unfounded.”

Afenifere condemned the attempt to tarnish the reputation of Seyi Tinubu through what it termed deliberate misinformation.

The organization also warned against the use of student platforms to spread falsehoods and incite public confusion.

According to Afenifere, the leadership position claimed by Isah within NANS is questionable and lacks legitimacy.

They accused Isah of acting with a political agenda under the guise of student activism.

The group noted that Isah’s alleged inauguration was accompanied by a banner that raised suspicions about his motives.

The banner reportedly displayed images of notable political figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister Rotimi Amaechi.

These individuals, according to Afenifere, are well-known critics of President Tinubu.

The group claimed that the banner’s content provided clear evidence that Isah is affiliated with an anti-Tinubu coalition.

Afenifere alleged that the aim of such affiliations is to discredit the president by targeting his family members.

They described Isah as a proxy being used by political enemies who are unwilling to confront President Tinubu directly.

The group further emphasized that there was no credible evidence linking Seyi Tinubu to any wrongdoing.

They criticized Isah for trying to involve the president’s son in his personal grievances without presenting facts.

Afenifere stated that the broader goal of Isah’s sponsors is to destabilize the Tinubu administration.

They argued that such tactics are underhanded and lack transparency.

According to Afenifere, these actions form part of a wider plot by political opponents to influence public perception against the presidency.

The group called this strategy a “proxy war” that relies on student figures like Isah to launch attacks.

They warned that such political maneuvering is unethical and harmful to democratic values.

Afenifere called on Nigerians to be vigilant and not fall for schemes aimed at misleading the public.

They urged the media and civil society to scrutinize such allegations before amplifying them.

The organization insisted that student unionism must remain independent and focused on student welfare.

They expressed concern that some student leaders are being used as pawns in larger political battles.

Afenifere also reminded Nigerians that civil discourse should not be replaced with calculated propaganda.

The group accused the so-called anti-Tinubu coalition of being more interested in seizing power than building the nation.

They asserted that such alliances are built on opportunism rather than genuine concern for the country.

According to Afenifere, the coalition consists of “strange bedfellows” united only by their shared opposition to President Tinubu.

They stated that this form of politicking erodes the nation’s political culture and undermines credibility.

The group concluded that such acts are not only dishonest but dangerous for Nigeria’s democracy.

They urged political actors to conduct their affairs with integrity and maturity.

Afenifere pledged to continue standing against falsehood and political manipulation, especially when young people are involved.

They reaffirmed their support for truth, justice, and the rule of law in national affairs.

They also expressed confidence that the Nigerian people can see through the deceptive tactics being used.

The organization encouraged student bodies to focus on constructive dialogue rather than being drawn into partisan conflicts.

They emphasized that true student leadership should be rooted in service, not propaganda.

Afenifere called for unity among well-meaning Nigerians to reject divisive strategies.

They stressed the need for a more responsible approach to political engagement across all sectors.

In their view, the current trend of weaponizing false narratives must be resisted to safeguard national stability.

They ended the statement by calling for a return to decency in public discourse and leadership.

This development has stirred national conversations about the role of students in politics and the ethical boundaries they must observe.

As public interest in the matter grows, many are calling for an independent verification of the facts surrounding the allegations.

While the issue continues to generate reactions, Afenifere remains firm in its position defending Seyi Tinubu against what it considers a politically motivated smear campaign.
