WASHINGTON, UNITED STATES — President Donald Trump has said the United States will carry out a major military response against Iran “very hard tonight,” amid rapidly escalating tensions involving Iranian military infrastructure and strategic oil assets.
In a strongly worded statement, Trump claimed that Iran’s naval and air capabilities had been severely degraded, stating that the country’s Navy, Air Force, radar systems, air defences, and a significant portion of its offensive military capacity were now “completely gone.”
He further suggested that the United States could take control of key strategic locations, including Kharg Island, a critical oil export hub, and other energy infrastructure points. According to him, such actions would amount to the United States “assuming total control” of Iran’s oil and gas markets.
The comments come amid heightened geopolitical tensions involving Iran’s military installations, energy exports, and maritime routes in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil shipping corridors.
The Strait of Hormuz has long been a flashpoint in regional and global security discussions due to its role in transporting a significant portion of the world’s petroleum supply. Any disruption in the area has historically triggered concerns over global oil prices and international trade stability.
Trump’s remarks have raised fresh concerns about the possibility of further military escalation in the Middle East, particularly at a time when diplomatic channels appear strained and regional actors remain on high alert.
Military analysts say any large-scale strike or attempt to seize strategic energy infrastructure would likely have significant global consequences, potentially affecting oil markets, international alliances, and security dynamics across multiple regions.
Iranian authorities have not yet issued an official response to the latest statement at the time of reporting. However, previous reactions to similar threats have typically included warnings of retaliation and commitments to defend national sovereignty.
International observers note that escalating rhetoric between major powers and Iran has repeatedly raised fears of wider conflict in the region, especially when linked to energy infrastructure and naval routes.
The United States government has not released an official operational confirmation of the reported statement beyond the remarks attributed to the former president.
As tensions continue to build, global attention remains focused on diplomatic developments, military movements, and potential impacts on international energy security in the coming hours.
